In In May 2024, we partnered with Beck Cole to deliver the first-ever SHE DIRECTS event – a three-day directors lab.
Held on Taungurung Country and led by Warramungu and Luritja filmmaker Beck Cole, it brought together First Nations women and gender diverse people to learn about the art of screen direction.
During SHE DIRECTS, participants worked directly with actors and directed a scene. This was an inspiring and engaging three days, with everyone stating they would recommend the program.
The formation of SHE DIRECTS was inspired by the underrepresentation of First Nations women and gender diverse people in the film and television industry, especially in the role of director.
