Meet the panel of First Nations storytellers from the webinar Changing Systems Through Storytelling: Be The Change.

Phoebe McIlwraith

Phoebe first connected with Common Ground through our Creators Circle program and has continued as a contributor.

Kirli Saunders

Kirli Saunders is a Gunai multidisciplinary artist and consultant.

Kirli was part of our second Dreamy Series, where she shared Buungbaa-ma-ndhu.

Buungbaa-ma-ndhu centres Gundungurra language in this beautiful story of rising like the sun, with singing, dancing, dreaming, hunting and speaking in mother tongue, before the sun sets at dawn. Kirli shares gratitude for the teachings of Aunty Velma Mulcahy and Aunty Sharyn Halls.

This story was originally commissioned by Fremantle Biennale and Ngununggula, and has been extended through the Dreamy series of mindful stories.

Listen to Buungbaa-ma-ndhu here.

Scott Wilson

Scott Wilson is a Gooniyandi and Gajerrong man.

Scott was part of our second Dreamy Series where he shares Gooniyandi thangarndi (language) in a story inspired by Gooniyandi Riwi (Country) and his grandmother Margaret, named after the Margaret River that runs through Gooniyandi Country.

She spent most of her life by the ocean and fishing in the sea. It shares a journey of someone living away from Country, but knowing that Country lives within us. So beautiful to share this story through Dreamy – one of nine mindful episodes from First Nations storytellers

'Yarrangi Yoowoolloo, Ngaanggi Yoowoolloo. Our peoples, your peoples. Yarrrangi Riwi, Ngaanggi Riwi. Our Country, your Country.'

Listen to Margaret here.

Daisy the Space Girl is an inspirational tale about a young Blak girl going on a magical quest to save her community.
